Governmental responses to COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract In response to the challenges imposed by COVID-19 pandemic, governments worldwide adopted a variety of strategies that include not just preventive or mitigation “flatten curve”, but also interventions aiming mitigate economic and social impacts pandemic. RAP`s special issue gathered 17 reflexive, timely relevant contributions different governmental approaches this paper we highlight similarities differences in responses across countries regions. We uncover discuss broad themes covered symposium, focusing on: (a) distancing strategies; (b) economic-relief responses; c) role bargaining, collaboration coordination levels governance; (d) key actors their pandemic response; (e) socio-economic inequalities; (f) context, policy effectiveness. The symposium adds an extensive body knowledge has been produced on topic offering more diverse contextual comparative analysis.
